Joseph D. Oliver, LMSW, CDC I

My journey to social work was a second act, sparked by life experiences far from the classroom. For over 20 years, I worked as a commercial plumber and pipefitter across Alaska and the Lower 48 oil fields. These years, with all their highs and lows—marriages, divorces, single parenthood, and caring for my father through his battle with cancer—shaped my worldview profoundly. I believe everyone, regardless of their past mistakes, deserves the chance to find peace and fulfillment.

As a Licensed Master Social Worker, I’m committed to guiding people through life’s complexities. My master’s degree in social work from the University of Alaska Anchorage, combined with training in CBT, Solutions Focused Therapy,  Brain spotting, and trauma-informed care, equips me with a range of tools to support your journey.

My approach centers on you, building on your strengths to create a secure space where you can freely explore your thoughts and emotions. Together, we’ll develop a tailored strategy to meet your specific needs. With a background in assisting veterans, seniors, and adults facing mental health and substance use challenges, I am dedicated to empowering resilience and healing.

I am guided by a deep respect for individual self-determination and the inherent dignity of every person. In our sessions, you can expect empathy, validation, and a judgment-free environment where your authentic self is welcomed. Whether you’re navigating relationship issues, work stress, or personal struggles, I’m here to walk alongside you toward healing and growth. I look forward to working with you.
