Jennifer Crystal Bio
Jennifer is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a PhD, bringing extensive experience from inpatient and outpatient clinical settings. She specializes in art therapy, disability communities, eating disorders, substance misuse, brain injury recovery, and working with the homeless population and individuals with chronic, pervasive mental illness. Jennifer is EMDR certified to support trauma healing. She provides family and couples therapy, using the Gottman Method and Susan Johnson’s emotionally focused therapy to strengthen relationships. She loves working with teenagers, veterans, and older adults, informed by her gerontology and women’s research focused studies. Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys nature walks, and spending time with her dogs, while cherishing her role as a primary caregiver for her parents, as family is deeply important to her.
Dr. Crystal worked on Main Campus at WSU Counseling and Psychological Services for 18 years and at WSU Student Disability Services (SDS) for 3 years. She has been fully licensed since 1994. Dr. Crystal’s Dissertation was on, The Effectiveness of Existential Art Therapy on Locus of Control, Self-Efficacy, and Self-Esteem on the mobility and Cognitions of Individuals Diagnosed with Panic Disorder. She has Co-authored 9 articles.
Her approach is creative, collaborative, and tailored to each client’s needs, helping them overcome obstacles or build stronger connections.
